Matt - Senior Session

We just escaped the rain yesterday and had fun shoot with Matt who is a senior this year and drove all the way from a town close to the Ohio border (that is how is sister explains it...and I don't think I had ever asked her the name). One of Matt's interests is skeet and trap shooting so we tried to incorporate his hobby in the session. Can senior pictures have guns in them? Hmmm....well, these do.

I also finally forced myself to experiment with some off camera lighting. I thought this would be a cool day to try it to give the images a more dynamic edge and also the skies were a little dreary so I wanted to give the images some punch. I hope it worked. Thanks for making the trip Matt, I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

Bethany + David

A new locale and another super sweet couple! I am so lucky to have such wonderful couples to photograph. They are truly beautiful both inside and out and treat me more like a friend than a vendor. Bethany and David are no exception. It was fun to take a trip out to Portland (MI, not OR) for a fun shoot around the quaint town. Bethany was so awesome scouting out some possible locations and sending me photos before the session! Awesome! Oh and did I mention they bought me homemade ice cream after the session. Look out guys, I'm movin' in to your place!

I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

These two love classic cars!

Shauna + Chris

When Shauna contacted me about her wedding last year, I was really bummed that I couldn't offer her my services. I was super excited when she contacted me again asking me if I would be up for a bridal session. Ummmm....YEAH! I have really been wanting to do one of these and if I could make a living off of these alone, I just might. When she sent me the link to a picture a her dress...I about feel off my chair. If I wasn't excited enough before, I could barely stand it after seeing the gorgeous dress. As their wedding got closer we touched base again and although we both really wanted to do the session, their tight schedule in Michigan before they returned back to Utah and my insanely-busy-schedule-for-me almost had me thinking it wouldn't happen. Fortunately, Shauna and Chris were kind enough to drive over to Lansing so we could still do the session.

We sure did get some odd looks and funny remarks from downtown Lansing's finest, but it was so much fun dragging this hot couple into an alley and have someone look at you like..."Do you know you are taking a gorgeous bride and groom into a stinky alley?" YEP!! Would you like my business card?

I love photographing weddings, but there is a lot of pressure to "get it right...the first and only time" and something like this allows me to relax a little more and let the little tiny creative side of me come out.

So...Shauna and Chris, I hope I made it worth your while to make the trip over today before you have a VERY long drive back to Utah. Thank you for trusting my creativity and for the opportunity to do something I have been wanting to do for a while.

Who's next???

Since they are the first couple to do this type of session with me...they get an extra long post.

Lisa + Gabe

Today I had such a great time photographing Lisa and Gabe for their engagement session. They live in Seattle, so we were lucky to find a time we could all get together during their short visit to Michigan.

These two were up for anything and even went along with some of my ideas that probably only make me smile. Plus, something embarrassing that has never happened to me before...happened today...mid-session...and neither of them made fun of me!

The best part was that they hadn't seen each other for a while due to Gabe's Reserve training...so instead of having to request snuggling and smooching...I had to request they look at me once in a while! It was great!

Thank you Gabe and Lisa for taking time out of your short tip to Michigan to meet up with me. I hope you enjoy your sneak peek.

I can't wait to see you guys in November!

Erin + Nick

We had a wonderful time yesterday in Ann Arbor documenting the wedding of Erin and Nick. Their ceremony took place at Trinity Lutheran Church and the reception followed at Webers.

I am still dowloading cards, so this sneak peek is a little "patchy". I wanted to get a few shots up before the couple leaves for their honeymoon. Don't worry though, there are plenty of fun shots from the reception to come. These families and their friends could DANCE!

Erin's dress had gorgeous details.

What could be so much fun as the bridal party gets ready?
This.
Do you remember what your grandmother asked you here Erin?

The ceremony was very heartfelt. The vows were so personal and had me tearing up behind the lens.

The couple opted for a cool red trolley for transportation of the whole wedding party.

How can you get married in Ann Arbor and not go to the law quad.

And here's one of the results of my famous "Oh, one more thing!" which was about the 9th time I had said it.

This is going to sound overly dramatic, but it is true.....I have been waiting YEARS to have a headtable set-up where I could walk behind the table to get this shot. I just love it!

Trying to use the videographer's light to my advantage.

I hope you guys enjoy your sneak peek! Have wonderful time on your honeymoon!

Kasey + Shane

Today I had the pleasure of meeting Kasey and Shane, whose wedding I am looking forward to photographing next April.

Their goal was to get ONE nice picture of the two of them. I hope they agree that we got a few more fun shots than just one!
Thanks for making the trip over. I hope you guys enjoy your sneak peek!

I know I just posted a shot like this from my last session, but I really like them both.

A Note

Please note that I will not have internet service (no email) until Sunday.

I always appreciate feedback and kind remarks about my photography, but a recent one was just so perfect, I wanted to share the statement that made my day.

"...You took the worry out of us bringing a camera along..."

Thank you!
And because blog posts without pictures are no fun...here's another favorite from Tori and Gary's engagement session!

Tori + Gary

What a day for the weather! The forecast predicted thunderstorms...I hoped for just some clouds. I woke up to clouds and rain and was afraid I would have to cancel my session with Tori and Gary today. I hopped in the shower and when I got out....the rain had stopped, the cloud cover had burned off and there were blue skies... and some major heat and humidity. I wanted the clouds back but at least it wasn't raining anymore.

Tori and Gary were troopers though. They braved the heat and humidity and graciously did whatever I suggested...even though I got their clothes sappy and muddy. Sorry and thanks guys! It was a pleasure meeting both of you and I am looking forward to sharing your wedding day with you in October!

Bjorn + Freddie

Today I had the pleasure of meeting two adorable brothers, Bjorn and Freddie. It was fun to interact with Bjorn, who is my son's age and see how similar they are...and laugh with his mom at all of the "joys" we are both experiencing as mothers as well during this interesting phase.

Both boys were a joy to be around and we got some fun shots for mom and dad. I hope you guys enjoy your sneak peek!
